Ringo Starr had three children with his first wife, Maureen Cox, who were Zak, Jason, and Lee. They all lived differently and had different careers. Ringo Starr and His Family

The Beatles’ drummer Ringo Starr was married to Maureen Cox in 1962. They had three kids together before divorcing in 1975. After that, he married his current wife, actress and model Barbara Bach, in 1981. In an interview, Ringo expressed that he felt becoming a father made him a different person. Although he wishes he could have been a better father, he loves being with his grandchildren. Zak Starkey

Zak Richard Starkey was born on Sept. 13, 1965. He is Ringo’s eldest son and drummer like his father. Since 1996, he has been playing with The Who. He has also toured with Oasis, Johnny Marr, Paul Weller, Yoko Ono, and Steven Van Zandt. When Zak was 13 years old, he used to play in pubs in England. Keith Moon, The Who’s drummer and Ringo’s close friend, gave Zak his first set of drums.

Zak described Keith as an uncle for him. Zak grew up surrounded by music in his house. Piles of records could be found in the living room where he used to sit and listen to them. A concert by T. Rex with his father in 1971 had inspired Zak to take music professionally. Zak and Ringo have also performed together in various events. They were among the performers of the anti-apartheid song “Sun City” in 1985.

Later, Zak joined Ringo in his tours with the All-Starr Band in 1992 and 1995. Zak tied the knot with Sarah Menikides when he was 19 years old. They conceived a daughter called Tatia Jayne Starkey in 1985 before breaking up. The conception of Tatia saw Ringo become the first Beatle to become a grandparent. Zak later established a relationship with Sharna “Sshh” Liguz, a recording artiste and record label founder.

Jason Starkey

Jason Starkey was born on Aug. 19, 1967. Just like his father and elder brother, he too drummed and played with different indie bands. In addition to that, he started a band by the name of Musty Jack Sponge and the Exploding Nudists along with Zak. He eventually abandoned music to become a road manager and then photographer. He got married to his long-time girlfriend Flora Evans in 2010.

Flora Evans is an interior fashion designer and floral designer who co-founded the jeans company Superfine. They have four sons Louis born in 1999, Sonny born in 2002, Rock born in 2009 and Budy born in 2011. Louis has done some acting work in films such as Rare Beasts and Ringo Starr’s Big Birthday Show. Jason Starkey and his family mostly keep a low profile and avoid making public appearances.

Lee Starkey

Lee Starkey was born on Nov. 11, 1970. She is Ringo and Maureen’s only daughter. In 1990, Lee appeared with her father in a commercial for Oldsmobile. Lee later performed backing vocals on “La De Da” from Ringo’s 1998 album Vertical Man. Lee Starkey works as a make-up artist and fashion designer.

She also helped start Planet Alice, a boutique located in Los Angeles which closed down shortly after. This store sells clothes that are influenced by the ’60s fashion and pay homage to her father’s career. Lee is with Jay Mehler, a musician since 2006. Jay is the bass player in the two English rock bands Kasabian and Beady Eye. The couple lives in London and in 2009 they had triplets named Smokey, Jakamo and Ruby Tiger Mehler. Lee and Jay prefer to keep their family private but Lee has admitted that her kids are learning music. Jakamo plays drums, Smokey plays drums and guitar and Ruby plays piano.
