Biography

Ghulam Mohammad Baksh Butt, who later went by the name Gama, comes from a line of wrestlers in Kashmir. His birthplace was Jabbowal village in the Amritsar region of Punjab, which was then a united India ruled by the British. Gama, like many others in his culture, was drawn to strength training and wrestling from an early age since he grew up among akhadas, or ancient wrestling rings. But he was unique.
