Few things are as essential and universal in the virtual world as the PDF format. There’s practically no operating system that can’t display a document saved in this format. Whether we’re using desktop or mobile systems, whether it’s OSX, Windows, Linux, iOS, or Android, documents saved in PDF format are always available to us.
About PDF Files
Adobe was the creator of the Portable Document Format, but the widespread adoption of this format long ago allowed for document standardization, making working with them easier, which is paramount for us, the users.
Despite its versatility, the PDF format also has several drawbacks. We won’t dwell on all of them here. The most important of these is the limited or no ability to edit documents. This is inherent to the format’s design, as it’s intended to be an output document, where once formatting and content are applied, they shouldn’t change. Nowadays, editable PDF documents are also available, such as tax return forms and the like. In such situations, it would be useful to have a tool for editing them.
SwifDoo PDF for Windows
In Windows, the Microsoft Edge handles the PDF viewing very well. Provided, however, that the document formatting is relatively simple and our requirements aren’t excessive.
But what if we need a more powerful tool that gives us access to many features that simplify working with PDFs? In my opinion, a professional solution is SwifDoo PDF for Windows.
SwifDoo PDF has been on my Windows laptop for a long time. This application has “saved my life” more than once. To describe all the features of this application, the current version of which is 2.0.7.3. However, in this short review, I will try to include the most important information about the dedicated Windows version, the program is well compatible with Mac, Android and iOS though.
The most important element of the application is simply editing PDF documents. The program allows for almost editing of content, as in a regular editor. Of course, everything depends on the document’s layout.
SwifDoo PDF Pro
My most frequently used tools are commenting, highlighting, underlining text and inserting signatures. What can a SwifDoo PDF Pro do?
The latest version of the application has been enriched with additional features that make working with documents easier. SwifDoo PDF Pro can easily recognize text (OCR). It exports documents to external formats such as PDF to Excel or PDF to Word. Converting PDF to docx is a particularly desirable feature, and the application performs it very well. So far, I haven’t had any issues with even the most complex formatting that would have caused me problems after transferring it to Word.
SwifDoo PDF easily converts HTML into a multi-page PDF document. Its tools allow you to add images, signatures, text blocks, insert page numbering, and interactive elements. The application allows you to save a created or edited documents as a new name file. Storing the program’s work in the cloud is easy. Depending on whether you purchased a SwifDoo Cloud from the manufacturer’s store, you can use Mail, Dropbox or Google Drive to share files.
For those, like me, who use more than one operating system, the information about the full compatibility of documents created in SwifDoo PDF on other platforms may be important.
OCR
In addition to this key feature, the text recognition tool also allows you to change the resolution, color depth, contrast, and tilt of the document. All this to best adapt the processed content to your needs.
In Conclusion
SwifDoo PDF is a universal tool. I believe it’s the missing link in the process of creating and reading PDF documents, providing many essential features that enhance the capabilities of this format after creation. This application is definitely for both newbies and professionals.
