Serhii Tokarev’s Venture Fund Became the Only One from Ukraine in the Sifted Ranking
Roosh Ventures, Serhii Tokarev’s venture fund, entered the top 50 investors and lenders in France and the Benelux according to Sifted. In addition, the European media outlet recognised three portfolio companies — Alma, Gladia and Folk — which entered the ranking of the region’s fastest-growing startups. Currently, Roosh Ventures is the only Ukrainian representative that has managed to enter this list.
Sifted Ranking: How a Ukrainian Fund Made It to the Top League
Sifted is a top European media resource for startup and venture capital market analytics. As a Financial Times-backed media outlet, it is considered an extremely reliable source of information. Roosh Ventures’ inclusion among the most active investors in Western Europe confirms that the place of registration is no longer a defining factor in a VC’s competitiveness. Typically, local funds occupy most positions on such lists. The appearance of a foreign player makes the Ukrainian venture fund stand out significantly against that general background.
When forming the ranking of the most influential investors, a set of criteria is taken into account:
- portfolio quality;
- intensity of completed deals;
- impact on the development of the local ecosystem.
The recognised portfolio companies specialise in different technology sectors, ranging from fintech to AI-based business tools:
- Folk has created a CRM system that gives control over business relationships back to people, not algorithms.
- Alma operates in the financial sector and develops a platform in the Buy Now Pay Later format.
- Gladia creates infrastructure for speech analysis and transcription based on artificial intelligence, which has already been integrated into products in different countries.
“I believe the fund’s approach to selecting projects is what makes it successful. We do not invest in markets, but in people who change them. If Roosh Ventures made it into the top 50 investors, it means that Ukrainian funds have already entered the top league in Europe,” says investor and founder of Tokarev Foundation Serhii Tokarev.
This result is already becoming a trend, according to which Ukrainian investment and technology teams are increasingly becoming competitors to Western players.
