Memecoin trading for beginners comes down to one repeatable setup: buy only tokens under $200K market cap, put the same amount into every trade, sell 80% with a take-profit at 4x, and keep 20% running with a trailing stop. Banana Gun, a Telegram trading bot, lets you set the buy, the take-profit and the trailing stop from one chat.

Memecoin trading is buying tokens whose price moves on attention. A beginner’s main edge is deciding the rules before the chart starts moving.

Blockworks data shared by SolanaFloor on 8 September 2026 put Solana at 67% of all meme coin DEX volume on 7 September, with Robinhood Chain at 23%. Cointelegraph reported a record 263,000 SPL tokens issued in one day on 11 September.

For the mechanics behind the chat interface, see how Telegram trading bots work. The 4x here is a setting you choose, and many small tokens never reach it.

Why buy under $200K market cap?

Market cap decides how far a token has to travel. A token at $150K market cap needs $600K for 4x. A token at $5M needs $20M.

The $20M move needs far more money coming in than the $600K one. Under $200K, 4x is a smaller absolute move, though small caps also go to zero more often.

The Telegram trading bot shows Market Cap and Liquidity in the buy menu when you paste a contract address, so you can apply the filter before you tap a Buy button.

How much to put in each trade?

Pick one fixed amount you can lose entirely, and use it on every buy.

Banana Gun asks you to keep at least 0.05 SOL in the wallet, so that reserve is not part of the budget. One bad token then costs you one unit, and your results stay comparable from trade to trade.

Buying by hand, use the preset buy buttons in the buy menu. If you copy a wallet instead, Buy Fixed puts in the same amount every time: set 1 SOL and a target buying 0.5 or 2 SOL still gets you 1 SOL.

Copy settings can enforce the $200K rule for you. With Max Market Cap at $200K, a copied buy above that level does not fire. The copy still lands after the wallet’s own trade.

How to set the 4x take-profit with a Telegram trading bot

Buy the token first, then paste its contract address into the Banana Gun chat and tap Setup Sell Limit Order.

Set Tokens to 80, the percentage of your tokens to sell. Choose Take Profit and trigger on a +300% change in Market Cap or Token Price, whichever you read on the chart.

Active is how long the order stays alive. Check the order under Pending Limit Orders before you close the chat.

What happens to the 20% you keep?

The arithmetic: you buy 0.5 SOL of a token, and the take-profit at +300% (4x) sells 80%. That returns about 1.6 SOL before fees and slippage, and the remaining 20% is worth about 0.4 SOL at that moment.

If that sell fills, the 1.6 SOL covers the 0.5 SOL entry, and the 0.4 SOL left is still exposed to the token.

For the rest, open Setup Sell Limit Order again and pick Trailing Stop Loss, which raises its trigger as price makes new highs. You can also place nothing on it and decide the exit by hand.

Where this memecoin trading system loses money

Many small caps never reach 4x. When the price never gets to +300%, the take-profit never triggers and nothing sells, so you hold a position that ends wherever the token ends.

A honeypot check is not a rug check. Banana Gun runs a sell check before the buy and blocks tokens you cannot sell, but a token you can sell today can still have its liquidity pulled tomorrow.

Anti-Rug has a documented 80 to 85 percent success rate on the scenarios it targets.

Thin pools cost you on the way in. The buy menu shows Liquidity in SOL, and the Banana Gun docs suggest raising slippage from 5% to 10-30% on volatile tokens. Higher slippage means a worse fill.

The system also sells early on purpose. Selling 80% at 4x caps the best trades, and only the 20% you keep benefits when a token runs well past it.

Common questions

What is a good market cap to buy memecoins at?

This system buys only below $200K market cap. A token at $150K needs $600K to reach 4x, while a token at $5M needs $20M. The $200K line is a rule you can change, and the Banana Gun buy menu shows Market Cap as soon as you paste the contract address.

How do you take profit on a memecoin in Banana Gun?

Paste the contract address, tap Setup Sell Limit Order, set Tokens to the share you want to sell, choose Take Profit, and trigger on a percentage change in Market Cap or Token Price. A +300% take profit is 4x. Orders appear under Pending Limit Orders.

How much should a beginner put into each memecoin trade?

A beginner in memecoin trading should pick one fixed amount they can lose entirely and use it on every buy. Equal sizing means a single bad token costs one unit. In Banana Gun, preset buy buttons handle manual buys, and Buy Fixed handles copied ones.

Will a 4x take-profit always sell?

A 4x take-profit on Banana Gun sells only if Market Cap or Token Price reaches +300% while the order is still Active. Many small tokens never get there, and then nothing sells. The order is a setting you choose, not an expected result.
