Working out is good for your physical and mental health, so making time for it in your everyday routine can only benefit you. When you dedicate time to exercise, it’s important to see the results you want to maintain motivation and keep going. Follow these tips and tricks to make your workouts more effective as you work toward your fitness goals.

1. Incorporate Compound Movements

Compound movements are exercises that work multiple groups of muscles at once. By incorporating compound movements into your routine, you can target more muscles at the same time. Some compound exercises can combine two different movements, such as a lunge performed while curling a weight to strengthen your biceps. Instead of only doing isolation exercises, which work for a single muscle group at a time, look for compound movements to include in your workout. Additional benefits of these movements include increased caloric burn, a higher heart rate, and improved flexibility and strength.

2. Add Extra Protein to Your Diet

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “abs are made in the kitchen.” Although it’s critical to strengthen and tone the muscles in your body through exercise, the foods you eat play a major role in your results. When you’re working on building muscle mass and strengthening your body, incorporate more protein into your diet. The building blocks of protein, amino acids, repair and maintain muscle tissue. When you eat more protein, your body can recover more effectively as the amino acids target the slight tears that occur within your muscles during a workout.

According to research published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, approximately 0.8-0.9 grams of protein per pound of body weight is ideal in your diet. Look for lean protein sources, such as lean poultry and meats, eggs, almonds, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and fish.

3. Wear a Sauna Suit While You Exercise

Another way to maximize your workouts is to change up your apparel. Swap out your shorts and tank top for a sauna suit, which is a suit made of neoprene or another synthetic material. Sauna suits for women trap in heat, causing the body to work harder and produce more sweat to stay cool. Exercising in a sauna suit can boost circulation, increase fat burn, and help you drop more weight and keep it off when you’re following a healthy diet and exercise plan.

4. Avoid Distractions

Getting distracted is part of everyday life for most people, but distractions during your workout can disrupt your flow and impact your ability to get in the zone. Try putting your phone in airplane mode when you exercise to avoid getting distracted when a message comes in or a notification pops up from a social media platform. If you don’t listen to music or use workout apps on your phone, you could also leave it in your gym bag or locker during your workout.

By making the most of your dedicated workout time, you can achieve better results and feel great after every gym session. Use these tips to maximize your efforts and transform your body in a healthy way.
