What Causes Acne? Pimples and Acne Causes
Causes of acne depend on many factors. In this article, we will find out what are those factors which play a very important role in causing acne.
To lubricate and protect the skin our body releases a natural substance known as sebum. When the sebaceous glands increase the production of sebum it plugs the follicular pore along with dead skin cells. The plugged hair follicle slowly grows and produces a bump. As the follicle enlarges, the protective walls may burst which allow normal skin bacteria to enter the deeper layers of the skin, finally producing inflammation. This condition of the skin is known as acne.
Here are some factors which play role in acne:
- If your parents had acne, then most probably you will have that too.
- Some medications may cause acne or make it more severe. Usually, medicines containing bromides, iodides or injected steroids or the steroids that sportspersons take sometimes. Anticonvulsant medications can also aggravate acne.
- Few skin care products may also cause acne. Because those products usually plug the hair follicles. Therefore, it is recommended that you should read the ingredient list and choose only those products which list water at first or second in the list.
